The City of Atlanta Department of Watershed Management (DWM) has lifted a boil water advisory in the cities of Fairburn and South Fulton.
DWM issued the advisory late Saturday night due to a power outage at the Adamsville Pump Station. It was lifted on Monday morning.
“Sampling results confirmed that no contamination was detected in the public water system,” DWM officials said.
Before it was lifted, all residents and property owners in Fairburn and South Fulton who had experienced water outages or low water pressure were advised to boil all water prior to use for drinking, cooking, preparing baby food or brushing teeth.
Those in the boil water advisory area could only use tap water to wash hands, take showers or baths, and do laundry. DWM had advised those people not to use water from any appliance connected to water lines while the advisory is in place, including coffee makers, ice machines, water dispensers or soda dispensers.
