Cabbagetown

David Barasoain | WABE

June 14th, 2012

Cabbagetown is a historic neighborhood located about a mile east of downtown Atlanta. It’s located very close to what was the Fulton Cotton and Bag Mill. According to Atlanta Historian Cliff Kuhn, the name may be derived from an incident that happened during The Depression when a truck hauling cabbage overturned. For the rest of the week the area smelled like boiled cabbage.
