Canada’s Acting Consul General Of Southeast Discusses Pandemic’s Impact On Global Supply Chain

Canada’s acting Consul General of the Southeast Louise Blais, who is based in Atlanta, says the pandemic has disrupted the global supply chain and affected Canadian families and individuals in Canada and the U.S.

“Whether it was the disease itself or its economic impact, everyone has been affected,” said Blais. “So as we now slowly come out of this very difficult year, I think it’s very important to make sure that we come out of it with a global mindset that we lift everyone out of this crisis, that we leave no one behind.”

Blais, a guest on Wednesday’s edition of “Closer Look,” explained to show host Rose Scott how the Canadian consulate has been helping Canadians living in the Southeast region amid the global health crisis while the border between the U.S. and Canada remains closed.

Blais also said that the recent discovery of the remains of 215 children on the grounds of the  Kamloops Indian Residential School in British Columbia, Canada, has caused national mourning.

“Now with this terrible discovery, I think the country is that much more committed to our truth and reconciliation efforts, to give the victims the voice that they need, the recognition of their suffering so that they can move on. And Canada as a nation can learn from this terrible, terrible chapter in history and be a better nation moving forward,” she said.
