Georgia Republican Attorney General Chris Carr knows he’s not the frontrunner at this point in the now-crowded, contentious race for who will succeed Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp.

But Carr tells WABE’s “Morning Edition” he’s the strongest candidate on the Republican side to secure a win in the primary, and make it on the November 2026 ballot to take on a competitive Democratic candidate.

“If you look at the last three governor’s races, six or seven months out, Governor Kemp was also in third place, Governor Deal was in third place, and Governor Perdue was in third place, but yet we all call them governor today because they worked hard, and they got their message out and the people of Georgia elected them,” Carr said.
