DECATUR, Ga. — DeKalb County hourly employees saw a 7.4% increase in their paychecks on May 1. The county recently raised the minimum wage for full- and part-time employees from $17.68 to $19 per hour.

About 563 county employees were brought up to $19 per hour. Adjustments were also made to the wages of 865 employees, bringing them up to at least $22.68 per hour.

The wage increase, totaling $2.7 million, was approved as part of the Fiscal Year 2026 budget. These new wages put DeKalb County among the highest-paying public employers in metro Atlanta, according to DeKalb officials.
