DECATUR, Ga. — The DeKalb County Commission, at its Dec. 16 meeting, extended a moratorium on data center proposal applications and deferred new regulations until Jan. 27, 2026, for a public hearing.

The moratorium was extended until June 23, 2026.

Commissioner Ted Terry, the moratorium’s sponsor, encouraged the board to extend it for one year. Deputy Presiding Officer Nicole Massiah seconded the motion. The county attorneys recommended a shorter timeframe to review state law on the length of a moratorium. This motion failed.
