It may not feel like spring yet, but according to the lunar calendar, a new season is almost upon us.

Signaling the first signs of spring, on Feb. 10, communities all over the world will begin to celebrate the Lunar New Year, also known as Chinese New Year and sometimes called Spring Festival. It’s a celebration full of fireworks, beautiful lanterns and delicious food, with an exciting origin myth featuring a frightful monster.

Dr. Jung Ha Kim, a nationally recognized Asian American community leader, scholar and president of the non-profit Community Resource Corporation, joined City Lights to discuss Lunar New Year Traditions!
