A recently departed hero of musical activism, Harry Belafonte, once said, “When the music is strong, the movement is strong.” That philosophy is shared and lived by a nationwide collective of women and nonbinary singers known as The Resistance Revival Chorus.
Originally founded in New York City, The Resistance Revival Chorus also has an Atlanta chapter and is the subject of the documentary “RESIST: The Resistance Revival Chorus,” now available to stream on Vimeo.
In this interview, “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes speaks with Carlisa N. Johnson, musical director of the Resistance Revival Chorus, and Susan O’Brien, director of “RESIST.”
