Former DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond is the latest Democrat to jump into the 2026 Georgia governor’s race.

Thurmond sat down with WABE’s “Morning Edition” on Wednesday, just an hour after launching his bid. He joins a pool of candidates vying for the party’s nomination that already includes State Sen. Jason Esteves and former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms.
