Fulton commissioners want to unseat longtime Chairman Robb Pitts. Now Pitts says he'll run in 2026

Two Fulton County commissioners are challenging longtime Chairman Robb Pitts in 2026, claiming his lack of connection with constituents on social media, his inaction to fix deplorable conditions at the Fulton County Jail and his track record of voting against progressive measures, all make him “out of touch” with what Fulton residents need and want.

District 3’s Dana Barrett and District 5’s Marvin Arrington Jr. both sat down with WABE’s “Morning Edition” shortly after announcing their intentions to run. They say Pitts has served Atlanta well during his more than 30-year stretch in office, but it’s time to pass the baton to the next generation.

But Pitts also made it clear that he plans to run for reelection.
