Georgia Among More Than 40 States To Propose Or Pass ‘Restrictive’ Voting Laws, Brennan Center Finds

Across the nation, more than 40 states have proposed or passed measures that the Brennan Center considers “restrictive” voting legislation.

Eliza Sweren-Becker, who serves as counsel in the Democracy Program at the Brennan Center, was a guest on Monday’s “Closer Look” and talked about this with host Rose Scott.

She told Scott that Senate Bill 202, which Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp recently signed into law, is “among the worst and largest” measures signed into law so far.

Sweren-Becker also shared why she believes Georgia’s measure sets the stage for further debate in Congress, as Senate Democrats attempt to pass a federal election reform bill.
