Thousands of Georgia moms and young kids are at risk of losing federal food assistance, depending on how long the current government shutdown lasts.

Over 200,000 low-income pregnant women, new mothers and young children in Georgia use the USDA’s Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, also known as WIC.

The federal program provides access to nutritious food, baby formula, and more for 6.7 million participants in the U.S.
