Georgia U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff asked federal officials to prioritize access to medical care for pregnant migrant minors on Thursday after an investigation found these children were all being sent to one shelter that lacked adequate medical care.

The Trump Administration in 2025 ordered all pregnant unaccompanied children picked up by immigration enforcement anywhere in the U.S. to be sent to the shelter in the border city of San Benito, Texas, according to an investigation by The California Newsroom and The Texas Newsroom.

Advocates there said the shelter lacks necessary medical care for pregnant children, who are all considered high-risk because of their age, and the shelter is hours away from a medical center that could provide specialized care.
