Georgians expected to purchase ‘big ticket’ items for the holidays

Retail experts say customers will be purchasing big ticket items this holiday season. After years of holding off due to the economy, John Fleming with the Georgia Retail Association says some customers are ready for large purchases.

“With the improvement in the employment situation, people are much more willing to make a purchase that might take them a year or five years to pay off. Auto sales in particular have been up through the year, so there is a little bit of pent up demand I think.”

Fleming says appliances and electronics will be high consumers’ shopping lists. However, he says gift cards remain the most popular item to give.
