Georgia's film Industry looks to build up local filmmakers as production slows

While Georgia’s film industry experiences a slowdown, lawmakers are optimistic that productions will return to the Peach State.

Sade Wilkins is a writer and producer in Georgia. She says many Georgians in show biz have had to find other jobs to support themselves.

“It feels like maybe the last two years filming has gotten low. A lot of my friends don’t have any jobs. I’ve been pivoting to events.”

At an event inside the Georgia State Capitol, producers, actors, and lobbyists got the opportunity to speak directly with lawmakers. It’s part of Georgia Film Week, which is organized by the Georgia Production Partnership, an entertainment industry advocacy group.
