Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter Macy Gray shook audiences worldwide with her 1999 mega-hit “I Try.” Ever since, despite the pressures and priorities of the major label music industry, Gray kept doing what she does, writing songs the way she likes and being her authentic self.

Last year, she combined creative forces with her band members California Jet Club for a new record titled “The Reset.”

Gray is currently on tour, with an upcoming concert at the Eastern in Atlanta on Oct. 13. In this interview, “City Lights” producer Summer Evans spoke with Macy Gray about the new album and tour.

“It’s about rethinking the way we treat each other, rethinking the way we treat ourselves, like a mental restart,” Gray says.
