Jackson Healthcare Plans $100M Alpharetta Campus Expansion
Staffing giant Jackson Healthcare is designing a $100 million expansion of its Alpharetta campus, with Italian Renaissance-inspired architecture featuring a replica of the Roman Colosseum.
According to this week’s Atlanta Business Chronicle, the project, which is expected to break ground by spring 2017, will include a new eight-story office building to accommodate 1,400 new employees over the next five years. The project’s centerpiece is a three-story amenities building that looks like a miniature Colosseum. It will contain a pool, gym, restaurant, spray-tanning studio and masseuse.
Jackson Healthcare started designing the first phase its 30-acre campus at 2655 Northwinds Parkway more than a decade ago.
Its Alpharetta campus has grown to 830 employees, primarily because of the growth of Locum Tenens, one of the companies under the Jackson Healthcare umbrella. Locum Tenens is already housed in the first building, which was completed in 2008. But, it’s also running out of room and Jackson Healthcare has already needed to acquire an adjacent office building to keep pace.
With 1,100 employees, it’s Georgia’s 18th largest private company. Its employees are known for their tenacity, making dozens of calls a day to find doctors, nurses and other medical professionals, a job made even more urgent by a shortage of health-care workers.
The project also includes a 1,385-space parking deck designed to resemble the buildings along the Piazza del Campo in Siena, Italy. The expansion is expected to take 18 months to complete.
