For more than a decade, Michele Norris, a Peabody Award-winning journalist and author, has been asking America a question: “Race, identity, your thoughts — six words. Please send.” More than half a million people replied with a range of responses.

“Mom’s racism took my love away.”

“My grandfather would hate my children.”

“White privilege. Enjoy it. Earned it.”

“My dad’s prejudices live in me.”

What Norris gathered from “The Race Card Project” is the subject of her new book, “Our Hidden Conversations: What Americans Really Think About Race And Identity.”

On Friday’s edition of “Closer Look,” host Rose Scott talked with Norris about her book and some of the findings from her project.
