Marathoner: Matt McDonald

For Matt McDonald, the marathon is “the truest test of human endurance.”

His test began at a New Jersey high school, where he won awards as a cross country runner. At Princeton University, he became the first freshman to cross the finish line at the Ivy League Cross County championship race called the Heps.

After a slew of accomplishments at Princeton, McDonald moved to Atlanta to run for the Atlanta Track Club. He also happens to be working on his doctorate in chemical engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology.

McDonald, who now runs the marathon, has qualified for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials in that race with a time of 2:14:05.
