The ARC also says that on average 30 percent of a household’s income can be spent on housing and still meet the federal definition of “affordable.” Today, the ARC says more than half of metro Atlanta’s seniors don’t meet that definition by spending more than 30 percent of their income on housing.

In this installment of “Closer Look’s” series on affordable housing, hosts Rose Scott and Jim Burress take a look at housing for the local aging population. They were joined by Mary Blumberg, Manager of Strategic Planning and Development at Atlanta Regional Commission, Dorothy “Dot” Benson, an advocate for the aging, and Lois Evans a current resident of Sandy Springs who’s concerned about finding affordable housing.
