For the last 10 years, a movement born in Atlanta in support of food service workers has grown in size and reach. It’s the focus of the organization known as the Giving Kitchen, which began in an outpouring of community love for the late local chef Ryan Hidinger and grew into an expansive non-profit now helping food service workers through crises with financial assistance and other resources.

“City Lights” host Lois Reitzes spoke with co-founder Jen Hidinger-Kendrick about their 10th anniversary and how the non-profit has evolved over the last decade.

“We classify food service workers as anyone who works in restaurants, catering, concessions, cafeterias, food trucks, bars, taprooms…we will always focus on getting food service workers to ask for help,” said Hidinger-Kendrick.

You can find more information on how to apply for assistance on the Giving Kitchen’s website.
