Cindy Parlow Cone loves soccer and is excited about growing the game’s footprint in the U.S. The former two-time Olympic Gold medalist and 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup champion now serves as the president of the United States Soccer.

The U.S. Soccer Federation is bidding to host the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Parlow Cone and FIFA officials recently toured the Mercedes-Benz stadium, which could be a potential game site if the U.S. wins the bid.

Following the tour, Parlow Cone stopped by the WABE studios and talked with “Closer Look” host Rose Scott.

During the discussion, Parlow Cone explained how soccer culture is evolving, how women are helping to push the game forward and why Atlanta is the perfect place to host one of the largest sporting events in the world.

Parlow Cone also discussed the United States Soccer Federation’s construction of a state-of-the-art national training facility and plans to move its headquarters to Georgia.
