Widow Of Slain Ga. Officer: Body Armor Failed To Stop Bullets
The widow of a slain Georgia police officer says in a federal lawsuit that his body armor failed to stop bullets that pierced his back as he worked an off-duty security job.
Tammy Jordan filed the lawsuit in U.S. District Court, saying a vest from Michigan-based Armor Express failed to save the life of her husband, former Griffin Police Officer Kevin Jordan.
In court documents, Armor Express denied that one of its vests failed to meet standards.
The lawsuit says Jordan was shot five times while trying to arrest a man at a Waffle House in Griffin, Georgia, in 2014.
Tammy Jordan maintains the vest was covering the areas of her husband’s back where he was shot.
The 43-year-old officer was a father of seven. His widow is suing on behalf of herself and the children.
