When high schoolers start a band, a classical chamber ensemble may not be the first thing you’d picture, but there isn’t much that is typical about the Cramoisi Septet.

The group is made up of members of the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra and Franklin Pond Chamber Music.

Violinist Raunak Kumar assembled the septet in order to perform “Introduction and Allegro” by Maurice Ravel. The piece includes a harp, played here by Madeline Chen.

The Septet will perform as part of the ASYO’s Finale Concert on May 12 at 2:15 in Symphony Hall, as well as competing in the Franklin Pond Chamber Music Competition at Spivey Hall on May 25 and 26.

The group has also decided that they will disband once the high school seniors in the Septet leave for college.
