It’s no secret that Atlanta’s landscape is rapidly changing, and in our City Lights series, “Cheers,” we celebrate establishments that have beaten the odds and survived for decades.

Founded in 1988, Limerick Junction Pub in Virginia-Highland is proud to be Atlanta’s oldest Irish bar. Since June 16 is Bloomsday, which celebrates the life of the great Irish writer James Joyce, it’s the perfect time to shine a light on this 35-year-old watering hole.

In this feature, “City Lights” senior producer Kim Drobes speaks with Limerick Junction’s managing partner, Josh Jacob about the history and longevity of the pub.

“What makes a pub something special, it has nothing to do with the taps, it has to do with the people on both sides of the bar,” says Jacob.
