The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) is encouraging metro Atlanta travelers to take the train the next time they need to catch a plane.

The push comes after Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport officials announced on Monday that they will increase parking rates for the first time since 2017. The new rates — some of which are double and triple the current amounts — go into effect May 1.

Hartsfield-Jackson officials say the changes are a response to the nation’s current economic climate, with the Consumer Price Index for metro Atlanta rising approximately 30% since the facility’s last parking increase.
