Atlanta poet Jordan Pérez has been praised for her “startling imagination” and her “precise and resonant” language, with which she explores themes of femininity, religion and survival in a new collection titled “Santa Tarantula.”
The book earned the Andrés Montoya Poetry Prize, awarded annually to first releases by Latin American poets, and it’s out now via Notre Dame Press.
Pérez joins host Lois Reitzes on Monday’s edition of “City Lights” to discuss the reflections and imagination inspiring her new work.
