New film by Kabir Sehgal “Fandango At The Wall” was inspired by the Fandango Fronterizo Festival held every year at the U.S.-Mexico Border. The annual event, which unites musicians from all over the world for one giant jam session, is known as a Fandango.

The film follows Grammy award-winning jazz musician Arturo O’Farrill and Sehgal as they visit musicians throughout Mexico in hopes of bringing them to the jam session.

The film highlights the power of Mexican folk musician tradition Son Jarocho music which fuses together both Spanish and African elements. Throughout the documentary the audience gets to know these different musicians through interviews and concert footage. The film is a celebration of the power that music has to unify, and the bonds that are formed through playing music together.

Producer Kabir Sehgal joined “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes for a conversation about the film, and to share his experiences while documenting the fandango.

“Fandango At the Wall ” is being shown as part of the Atlanta Film Festival.
