Georgia is expected to outperform the national economy slightly, but experts predict slower overall growth for the state.
The University of Georgia recently shared its 2026 Economic Outlook. Interim Terry College of Business Dean Santanu Chatterjee predicts that Georgia’s economy will struggle next year.
“The big, big issue here is the uncertainty around trade policy,” said Chatterjee. “Population growth has slowed down as well, and the labor force is also not growing. So those are the three things I think create the biggest headwinds for Georgia.”
