Jurors heard closing arguments on Monday in the trial of Colin Gray, whose teenage son is accused of opening fire for 41 seconds at Apalachee High School using the AR-style rifle his father gave him as a gift, leaving two teachers and two students dead.

The school shooting on Sept. 4, 2024, was the deadliest in Georgia history. It also left nine others injured.

Gray’s trial is a landmark case for Georgia, as prosecutors seek to hold a parent criminally responsible for a school shooting committed by their child, following the legal precedent set by the Crumbley case in Michigan.
