Monitors: Plant Vogtle Reactor Likely To Miss January Deadline

The phrases “over deadline and over budget” have become so synonymous with the Plant Vogtle nuclear expansion project near Augusta that when a new timeline or price tag comes out, many don’t even notice.

This week, independent monitors declared the January opening of nuclear reactor No. 3 is highly unlikely.

Kristi Swartz, a reporter for E and E News, covers Vogtle extensively. E and E News is a publication geared toward the energy sector.

When she spoke with WABE’s “All Things Considered” host Jim Burress, he started by asking why meeting that January deadline is unlikely.
