Synchronicity Theatre’s outreach program, “Playmaking for Girls,” gives young ladies who are wards of the state or refugees an opportunity to come together as playwrights and actors. The program offers several services that empower and educate the girls to imagine new pathways for their own lives.

In this interview, “City Lights” producer Summer Evans spoke with the program director Susie Purcell about the program.

With this population, there’s a lot of trauma, so we have trauma training and speak to the heart and try to make it a safe place to open up,” Purcell said.

The girl’s final performances are on June 17 at Georgia State Clarkston in the Cole Auditorium. Tickets are free, but reservations are required. More information is available here.
