Atlanta’s dance scene is vibrant and eclectic, and we are honored to highlight some of the many local dancers that move us with their movements in our ongoing series “Speaking of Dance.”
This edition highlights Atlanta choreographer and dancer Alex Spitzer. “I mainly do modern and lyrical dance and some improvisation, too,” Spitzer says. “One of the unique things about me and my work is that I’m a dancer who’s in a power wheelchair.”
Spitzer has a physical disability, Arthrogryposis, a muscle and joint disorder he’s had since birth. “I can feel everything, there is no pain, it’s not progressive,” said Spitzer.
