Atlanta is one of many cities working to undo the harms of inequitable interstate projects. Under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, Atlanta has received $157 million.

On Monday, Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens spotlighted the funding during his State of the City address, where he discussed the city’s infrastructure and transportation plans. Dickens says the federal money will be used in the first phase of the Stitch project.

The development project aims to connect three areas of Downtown Atlanta. It includes creating approximately 14 acres of urban green space, affordable housing options and transportation enhancements.

On Monday’s edition of “Closer Look,” show host Rose Scott talked with A.J. Robinson, the president of Central Atlanta Progress and the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District.

Robinson explained that the Stitch project is 20 years in the making. He also expressed his views regarding the potentially equitable impact of the project on surrounding neighborhoods.

The Stitch ATL is hosting a community design workshop. More information about the event can be found here.
